We are looking for a new Lab Technician to join our team.

This is a varied role supporting colleagues in Engineering with PCB repairs, soldering, building cable assemblies for both prototyping and customer projects.  You will also be a key member of the Ultraleap Health & Safety Committee, leading on the maintenance of the lab including documentation, risk assessments and training for new employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Testing, debugging and reworking electronic assemblies including support for verification testing and maintenance of appropriate test records
  • Building prototypes and test equipment
  • Supporting the development and verification of product tests
  • Maintaining lab space and equipment including calibration
  • PAT testing of office appliances
  • Managing lab consumables and inventory including ordering components to support prototype builds
  • Overseeing lab space and equipment use as well as safety training
  • Assembling and testing hardware for customer deliveries and maintenance of related records
  • Providing support for the creation and release of manufacturing documentation

Experience and Skill Set

  • Good understanding of electronics fault finding techniques
  • Ability to solder through-hole and fine pitch SMT components using irons and hot air wiring, and cable assembly skills
  • Ability to understand electronic schematics and electrical and mechanical drawings
  • Good mechanical hand and power tools
  • Proficient with use of standard lab equipment
  • Familiarity with Altium, CAD design skills and scripting languages such as Python, VBA a benefit
  • Minimum NVQ Level 3 in an engineering discipline or proven experience

General Information

  • Occasional travel both European and international may be required
