We are seeking an exceptional interaction designer to help us design and deliver the user interface of the future.

The role offers a unique opportunity to work with the latest tools and technology to design new user interfaces and experiences – from virtual and augmented reality to automotive interfaces to touch-less public kiosks, all using Ultraleap technology to deliver mid-air interaction in innovative, intuitive and natural ways.

You will break new ground, working alongside user researchers, designers and developers to create immersive experiences with hand tracking, gesture frameworks and mid-air haptics.

You will be hands-on throughout the design process from discovery and ideation to prototyping and user testing activities. As a member of Ultraleap’s Experience Design & Research team, you will be the voice of the user at Ultraleap, and will be:

  • Embedding user research and user-centred design methods at the heart of our product definition and customer work.
  • Assisting our customers, advising on usability, best practice for mid-air interaction and helping customer teams with interface design.
  • Helping make Ultraleap the go-to place for guidance on ‘great spatial interaction’ by contributing to the creation of design guidelines and design libraries for specific user environments and our key markets.
  • Designing new experiences and software tools to inspire customers, helping them craft experiences using our products and encouraging repeated use.
  • Helping position Ultraleap as the leader in experience design in our field, through talks, blogs and white papers.

Experience and Skill-Set

  • Proven industry experience in interaction/UX design, ideally from a design agency or a design team in an experience-led organisation.
  • Experience of working with multiple stakeholders to deliver and present concepts and usable experiences.
  • Degree in Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction or a related design or behavioural science discipline.
  • Experience of working with user-centred design processes, including using insights from user research to inform designs.
  • Strong sketching skills and ability to quickly produce storyboards and interactive prototypes to communicate new concepts.
  • Experience delivering exceptional quality user interface designs, with robust consideration given to usability and accessibility as well as attention to detail in graphics, layout and language.  Working knowledge of user stories and Lean UX an advantage.
  • Proficient with design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch, Axure, Invision etc.
