DevOps Engineer

RAC are now recruiting for a DevOps Engineer to join our Digital Operations Team in either Bristol or Bescot who will be focusing on building deployment pipelines. As a DevOps Engineer you will be working as part of the Digital Operations Team, providing support to the Digital Development Team by implementing automation, integration and deployment of code. You can also expect to be supporting both non-production and production Digital environments.

• • Create build & deployment pipelines to optimise code delivery & configure infrastructure

• • Document Digital automation solutions & processes.

• • Use Infrastructure as code to provision components using appropriate frameworks (eg: Terraform).

• • Manage Cloud and on-prem infrastructure, both production and development environments

• • Utilise APIs to deliver solutions – both internally developed consumption of 3^rd party Cloud services.

• • Integrate development planning tools (eg: Jira) & automated testing with build & deployment pipeline.

• • Work with architecture team and align with defined approach, tools and processes.

• • Take feedback from dev and test colleagues to improve the build & deploy process.

• • Perform code reviews.

• • Estimate work from user stories.

• • Repository management & code branching, helping to apply branching strategy.

• • Consult with RAC Security team, respond to security incidents and identified vulnerabilities.

• • Respond to internal customer tickets to tackle bugs, tech debt and other operational issues.

The ideal candidate for this role requires strong technical experience with DevOps technologies, preferably Azure DevOps, Azure Cloud services and the Atlassian stack (BitBucket & Octopus being the focus) as well as Windows Server and TeamCity.

Having a solid understanding of security and how to apply it to the various layers within a deployment pipeline is also a must. We are looking for experience with scripting and someone who can read and understand code, HTML, ASP.NET, MVC, C# to name a few.  If you have worked in a fast-paced environment previously and thrive on working with agile practises, this could be the role for you. As you will be joining our Digital Operations Team you must be confident collaborating on user stories and tasks to deliver the best solutions and have a thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle. You will need to be self-motivated as well as creative in proposing solutions to complex and time-critical problems that can arise. You can expect to be working alongside a team of DevOps Engineers so will need to be able to provide support and guidance to the team and be an excellent team player with confidence at diagnosing issues and advising on automation technology approaches.
