As a Communications Executive you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering HL’s external relations strategy. You’ll spend your time supporting the Head of External Relations and PR team to help them improve our positive media coverage, which in turn supports our client advocacy and reputation management work.

Good communication skills and a keen interest in helping HL get its messages out into the media. The analytical role will suit someone who is good with numbers, always looking at ways in which we can improve our coverage and results, diligent at writing with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work under their own initiative with often tight deadlines. You will be a good planner and well-organised. Some experience in PR or event planning would be desirable but is not essential.

You will have an interest in financial matters, the media and in current affairs, and will be an inquisitive and analytical thinker who is self-motivated, resourceful and pro-active.


  • Working closely with the Head of External Relations and PR team to help deliver HL’s External Relations strategy
  • Measuring and reporting the success of our media work, including competitor analysis to identify gaps and opportunities, including Exco and Board reporting
  • Support the PR team and working with Client Insights to fulfil media data and information requests
  • Invoicing and procurement for the team
  • Maintaining House Views
  • Manage the press contact lists
  • Maintaining the media planning calender
  • Organising promotional events such as press conferences
  • Organising case studies for the media
  • Compiling and sending press releases on behalf of our spokespeople
  • Support our spokespeople in horizon scanning and looking for potential stori


  • High level computer literacy
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to plan, co-ordinate and prioritise work effectively
  • Analytical and inquisitive thinker
  • Good communication skills
