We’ve been doing all we can to rethink joinery and now we’re looking for a software engineer to join our exciting construction technology startup.
You will play an important role in developing our technology as part of our current Innovate UK funded project, which seeks to create a platform that allows designers to configure joinery items in their native BIM packages and push their configurations straight to manufacturing. Remember airfix? Well, the parts for the joinery appear on site shortly after pressing go, in the form of a kit of parts – a lot like an airfix kit, but bigger, and with less glue!

Primarily, we have a background in architecture, although we pride ourselves on our breadth of skills and experience in design and manufacturing. Currently we are a small team, this appointment will be the first or 2+ roles that are planned over the course of the grant funded project to help FJS grow to reach our vision. Your role would be central to the growth of our dev team.
At the moment, our tech is being developed in collaboration with external developers. These developers are partners in the grant project, and part of their role is to help us grow our in-house dev team. This means that in the short term, you will not be entirely without the support and advice of experienced software professionals. Your job will then be to expand on their work towards the FJS platform.
Ideally you’ll be a brilliant full stack developer with hugely relevant web and app development experience, brimming with platform and cloud infrastructure skills, and seeking the opportunity to be an influential key member of a small but growing team working in a fascinating design focused environment…
But we understand this is asking a lot. What’s most important is a willingness to learn, adapt and develop your own skills, work autonomously and guide us through areas in which we may be less familiar.
