Analytics Manager – Orion

    Orion Energy Platform enables energy suppliers to better serve their customers while supporting solutions for the world’s evolving energy needs.

    What will I be doing?

    We are looking for a manager with strong technical expertise who still enjoys being hands on. Mentoring more junior analysts is also expected from this role, ensuring best practise and quality of output.  You will also be able to review other areas of Orion and make recommendations for improving analyst capacity or capability.

    You will need to regularly interact with the key business stakeholders and senior leadership to ensure that the work the team is doing is aligned with business top priorities and is delivering clear value.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Line management of a team of analysts aligned to different areas of the Orion team, working across e.g. customer experience, tooling for operations, and customer consumption.
    • Oversee administrative management of content, adoption, and user satisfaction with analytical platforms such as Tableau
    • Monitor need for Analyst resource across Orion and ensure the recruitment process is fit for purpose.
    • Surface opportunities to move faster or be more efficient through the use of 3rd parties, contract resource or additional data.
    • Mentor junior analysts and encourage them to question requirements, and understand value they deliver
    • Align with analytics leads from across the Group for consistent approach to development, and develop best practices for the analyst community
    • Take the lead to scope and oversee major data analytics projects for Orion, identifying opportunities and challenges which benefit from a data led approach.
    • Provide hands on support when needed, in extracting, manipulating and analysing data to provide key insight and recommendations.

    Is this the job for me?

    Essential skills and experience:

    • 1+ years of experience in leading a team of 2+ analysts and delivering actionable insights to different business stakeholders.
    • Experience in delivering high quality data analysis, translating into true commercial impact within a business
    • Excellent presentation and communication skills – able to articulate results clearly and concisely to senior stakeholders.
    • Experience in delivering insights and analysis across different business functions, e.g. operations, finance, strategy, etc.
    • Experience working in an agile environment, in particular continuously improving ways of working in the context of a reactive demand.
    • Business savvy with a good understanding of the role of the different departments of a well operating business as well as a vision of the Analytics need in each of these departments.
    • Degree educated in a numeric, scientific or engineering discipline.  Masters/PhD advantageous.
    • Theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in using advanced analytical techniques.
    • Experience using and ideally transforming to a modern analytics stack
    • Curious, with a voracious appetite to learn.
    • Significant experience (5+ years) in a statistical and analytical role, inclusive of manager experience roles.
    • Ability to communicate and engage both a technical and non technical audience.
