JOB TITLE: Business Analyst
CAREER DEVELOPMENT PATH: Assistant Manager or Specialising

Business Analysis is at the heart of Change and provides the key link between the Business and IT. We now have an exciting new opportunity for a Business Analyst to join the team.

The Change Team comprises of Business Analysts and Project Managers, who work together to deliver business and  IT changes in a dynamic FTSE 100 company. The Business Analyst role is highly varied and challenging and the need to adapt to different concepts and people is very important.

Business Analysts provide a key link between Hargreaves Lansdown’s business areas and IT and are crucial to the success of new projects and new developments.  From the initial idea to the project going live, it is their responsibility to ensure the requirements are gathered and understood by all people involved and documented clearly. We now have an exciting new contract opportunity for a Business Analyst to join and work on a key transformation project which is looking to implement a client content & experience management system.


  • Working with Senior Management and directors from all areas of a varied company to define the requirements of a project.
  • Work with all parties including Development, Testers, UAT, Infrastructure, on the requirements and support throughout the whole development lifecycle. Excellent communications skills are essential.
  • Ensuring that financial regulations are adhered to at all stages of a project.
  • Control changes to requirements and liaise with Project Managers to assess impact to scope and project timescales/ deliverables.
  • Adhere to deadlines and prioritise workload to manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Training staff to use new systems when required.
  • Writing requirements for the creation of new APIs or extending existing ones – expressing the data needs and the behaviour/rule needs
  • Performing analysis with technical stakeholders to understand current system state – where source data resides, how it flows through existing integrations and what behaviour/rules exist
  • Describe in business terms  the interaction between back-end and front-end systems via API calls – the interdependency between the two and how this manifests in system behavior


  • 1-2 years of working as a Business Analyst
  • Good understanding of project lifecycles
  • Knowledge of the Financial Services industry
  • Proactive, resourceful and able to use initiative
  • Ability to work and perform in a high pressurised environment
  • Ability to use project planning and process mapping tools (MS project/ MS Visio) would be desirable
  • Ability to use Jira and Confluence would be desirable
