# Kieran Billingham - Multi-cloud Machine Learning: why you don’t need a centralised data stack to extract value from your data. At GoCo, data is a group function. Historically, this allowed us to service multiple brands with a smaller team and a centralised data stack. However, as the organisation has grown through acquisitions keeping to one centralised stack has become much more difficult, forcing the data team to work across businesses and across multiple stacks. In this talk, we discuss how GoCompare.com's growth into a group has affected the way in which the data science team services the business, the journey from single cloud to multi-cloud machine learning production and the skills gap that needed bridging to achieve that. To describe the transition, the recent deployment of a B2B API service using Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services will be used as an example, but we will not delve into the nitty gritty of the architecture. ## About Kieran Kieran is junior data scientist at the GoCo group, he has an MSc in data science and now works to build machine learning products for B2B partners using group data. Kieran is well versed in Azure services and is currently up-skilling across other cloud providers in order to deliver cross-cloud products. Previously, Kieran studied physics and provided business analytics for a FTSE 100 insurer and now works as an ambassador for STEM education. # Panel discussion participants to follow # Introducing our *NEW* sponsors! About the organiser

Bristech meetup events are held on the first Thursday of every month (bar August). We provide pizza and drinks after the talks to give people the opportunity to discuss what they've seen and to network with other attendees.

We invite two speakers to share their knowledge on topics from across the technical spectrum (with a bias towards software), including professional developers, company founders, academic researchers, hobbyists and creatives.

A typical Bristech audience member may tend to be tech agnostic (and certainly ‘tech curious’) since we offer such a wide variety of topics and are not focused on any particular technology or software.

We do not try and ‘theme’ our evenings per se, which allows for the interest of odd technical pairings and very often interesting connections/overlaps between the two topics. Variety is the spice of life for Bristech (as is the pizza).

Past topics have included “Kube All The Things” (March 2016) and “Robot Swarms” (November 2014).

Please note - Bristech events are squarely aimed at a technical audience and are not intended to be recruitment events. Professional recruitment agents are welcome in a personal capacity only.

Since the events are tech talks and not recruitment events, please ask permission from the organisers before making any "We're Hiring!" declarations either at an event or in the public discussion forums.

If your organisation might be interested in sponsoring the monthly events please talk to us - hello@bris.tech

Bristech has a  Code of Conduct for all participants in our events, both speakers and audience members.
